that was my first impression as well, but we left the radio on and it doesnt seem to react to that.

so either it has eyes or it uses super smell and its going to kind us through that.

the good news is that it looks killable.

here's my plan: put a mortar on the ground at the door, then shoot at the red spot. if it isnt immediately wounded or killed, retreat into the security room and then detonate the mortar when it tries to enter the terminal room. this way the explosion is contained away from the mortar crates and the blast is guaranteed to be near the monster since its at the door.

Hmm if it's a natural predator or at least acting like one then it should be content with its current kill, so long as we don't make it think we're a threat, or trying to steal its food it shouldn't leave the corpse,

its a tough call to make because this isnt a normal enviroment, the creatures here can be assumed to have been brought here for a reason that makes them unique.

the pack hunters we saw earlier were notable for their high aggression, the same might apply here or it might be different in its own way.

shooting the mortar is risky if we miss, and might not work. better to use telekensis to slam the pin into the wall or something to that effect.

we should also get the rubbing alcohol out, since we can use it as an emergency bomb/molotov if something goes wrong with the mortar. tell spear to fireball it if we throw it.

Use dead cappy's clothes to fashion straps and make improvised saddlebags out of whatever you can find. I believe the .308 ammo is in metal boxes, those might make good pouches for improvised saddlebags. Then sore medical supplies in one side and some extra ammo and maybe an extra mortar, wrapped in remaining scraps of cloth to protect it in the other side.

otherwise examine stairs.

confirmation that the alicorn exists in an endless cycle of terror. no wonder it didnt respond when it saw us, who knows how long its existence has been just being eaten alive constantly.

Patwrite is in a unique position, as we have acquired exclusive rights to do research normally deem immoral in the Tabuck province by the Saddle Arabian government. As such, we are pioneering research most can only dream of. As it is related competitively to our robotics research, we believe that one day we will actually bridge that gap between our biological research and cybernetic research one day. which we believe could benefit both. Also, our genetic research has recently lead to new discoveries about existing bio-form already found on this planet.

Well, if 11-54 (a bio-form we know to be a unicorn) is somewhat classified, I'm positive that any information on 21-03 (an alicorn) is probably going to be heavily classified.. I'm surprised the robot didn't ask how we knew about a specific project like 11-54 which probably isn't reallly common knowledge outside the company, if we ask too many questions about specific projects that the robot didn't tell us about, it might call security or something.

Since his respawn tube for lack of a better term for it seems to be in the same area nearby, if we can get back there, we might be able to meet him if/when he dies again... His tube did move, but not far it just moved once to the left of his previous spawn point which makes me wonder if his is locked to that region or if he bounces around like we do and if not, why? Either why do we spawn in different locations or why is his locked to this room.

If he spawned there again, and assuming nothing else is in the area, then that would mean he's lying right where we first met him, since the bird that took him is dead now.

...It just occurred to me that 21-03's entire existence after a certain point could have just been being killed and eaten by that bird over and over again.

Now I really do want to try and help the poor bastard.

He could have respawned elsewhere already, or he may have a much longer respawn timer since he's an alicorn, we don't know enough about the respawn mechanics. But that room does seem to be his next respawn point since the number changes after the subject is spawned and released.. We might just have to wait near his tube until he inevitably dies again.. It shouldn't be too long, this place is very dangerous and he seemed like he couldn't stand much less move around or use magic, he probably won't last long on his own, even without a predator targeting him.

On one hand I want to go back just to confirm if what we as the anons in the meta have speculated since we last saw the Alicorn alive is actually true.

On the other hand I don't want to go back as even if the speculation is only right on one or two points we could waste a lot of time/face a lot of danger only to discover that the Alicorn is defective rather than sick.

Also I don't know if we want Spearmint to see the Alicorn currently, that might push her over the edge.

True. It'd be a very risky move.

But we don't really have much else to look for, really. Plus, it should be reasonably close by, shouldn't it? The bird probably wouldn't spend time dragging his body a very long distance.

As for Spearmint......I don't know how she'd react to him. I really don't. She could roll with it, or it could break her.

If we do go through with this, maybe we should let her rest in the lounge, and just be extraordinarily careful?

Personally I'd rather go about seeing if we can secure this area that way we have a base of operations. It'd be good to have another one. Also we should see about those guns and see if we can get them out of the display, without alerting security. Only when we have more fire power and a secure base should we go snooping about for that alicorn. Also since we'll have a secure place, we won't have to worry about Spearmint as much.

Right now we should probably stay away from any area that says "Bio-testing."

Check the next floor. If there's nothing of interest up there, double back to the bio-testing area and check it very, very carefully.

I think I know what happened when we were on the ground bleeding from our nose. One of the power plants in this place exploded or something. This facility runs off those crystals that absorb magic, so a power plant exploding/failing might produce what we just experienced. So there's something at power-core 4 that we either need to check out or avoid. That said a good plan might be going to the robotics manufacturing since it's power is out and seeing if you can repurpose the robots there to helping you instead of hindering you. Maybe you can have a robot companion or even an army of them.

If we need to do communicate something more complex, then start saying letters and having him blink or grunt whenever we reach a letter it wants to use.

Start with vowels.
"A... E...I...O...U...' then regular alphabet. "A...B...C...D..E...F...G...H-" blink.

Every time it signals, start again.

"A... E-" blink.

so on and so forth. It's sluggish but it's the only way I know of that can be used to communicate when writing is impossible and yes or no questions may not suffice. If it can spell, that is. If it can't spell, we're kinda fucked unless we ask if for directions using eyes like "look in the direction you want to go."

On these notes, ask if it remembers previous lives. Let's hope not because it might just make me want to puke.

Last thought: Unless that bird is both male and female, there must be more than one bird here. Likely another parent will come for the nest shortly unless it was slain previously.

We should move.

Before I made my first kill for food, I knew exactly what it was like to waist away with nothing to eat. How dare you say I know nothing about the hell he's been through!"

Well, you got a facility that has or had all of the resources necessary to make an alicorn, but you don't have a genetics background. The facility staff probably kept notes on how they did it, but we don't know where those notes are or what condition they are in. Assuming we do manage to collect the necessary tools and knowledge to fix 21-03 how are we going to apply these fixes since plasmid type technology hasn't been established as cannon, having little knowledge of how the respawn tubes work and considering a team of experts was probably working on this project. So, it may be possible, may not.

On a side note, we should consider where we are going next.

I was thinking more in terms of super soldier than a god as like >>24166467 said they have built the imperfect subject 21.

Not sure if 21 was implying that subject 12 is his female counterpart and perfected/succesful or that it has been 12 years and Dr Green was perfect?

I vote we should just leave it where it is as I don't think Spearmint will help us move it.

I seem to think of the locations we asked about to the tour robot. Dr Greens office is the least distant in terms of floor numbers but we still don't have a path to any of them that I know of.

I wonder if we could ask the tour robot about a reactor tour, would probably serve to tell us maybe where they are in the building and if it would be incredibly stupid to go near them as an unicorn.

I honestly don't think Spearmint really does know what he's been through.

Remember, he's spent the last twelve years lying on the ground, presumably with nobody even trying to talk to him, being repeatedly eaten by a giant bird.

This is quite literally a living hell that neither Spearmint or ourselves could ever truly understand.

At this point, I say we give him some food and water, and a blanket if we have one, and then leave him as he asks us to.

I have all kinds of theories but the least radical is that the 'orphanage' is simply for field testing of behavior when the threat of termination and respawning is no longer valid and that the lack of magic is intentional. You don't want a rogue alicorn if they are any harder to contain than we are and we've been causing mayhem in self-defense rather than intentionally.

fug, now we have to deal with psycho featherbrain now...so much for trying to be friendly equip scalpels with tk and crowbar to hooves maybe we can distract him with the crowbar long enough to slice some tendons so he can't move around as easily...or at least enough for Spearmint to wound him with her rifle?

That's it for tonight, We are touching butts with the bump limit, the sun came up and I need to sleep. I really wanted to get as much done in the thread before Sunday so I'm happy with leaving it right at combat just because of how close to the bump limit we are.
